Dungeons & Dragons Live Action Netflix Series in the Works, Could Launch a ‘D&D Universe’

Netflix is developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based in the Forgotten Realms setting, according to Deadline. The project is spearheaded by Shawn Levy (director of Deadpool and Free Guy), with Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) serving as writer and showrunner. This marks a significant investment by Netflix in the fantasy genre, potentially launching a larger D&D universe on the platform. While Netflix and Hasbro haven't confirmed the news, Deadline reports that after extensive negotiations, the series is moving forward into development.

While this Netflix series is in development, there's currently no news regarding a sequel to the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Despite Chris Pine's expressed interest and confidence in a sequel, Paramount Pictures' CEO, Brian Robbins, has indicated that a sequel would require a reduced budget to move forward. Meanwhile, Amazon's Secret Level anthology series features a D&D animated segment.
