"Dune: Awakening Global Release Schedule Confirmed, Early Access Included"

Funcom has officially revealed the global release schedule for Dune: Awakening, the highly anticipated survival MMO set in the harsh and mesmerizing world of Arrakis.

Inspired by Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment’s cinematic adaptations, Dune: Awakening invites players to experience the planet like never before—an expansive open-world survival adventure where every choice shapes your journey. Drawing from Fremen traditions, you’ll survive the unforgiving desert through mastery of combat, spice harvesting, base building, and trade. Originally slated for an earlier launch, the game has been delayed by three weeks to address feedback and refine gameplay following its beta testing phase. The official global release is now set for June 10, 2025, launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Players who have secured early access will enjoy a five-day head start, stepping onto Arrakis beginning June 5, 2025.

As highlighted in IGN's Dune: Awakening beta preview, “As a longtime fan of Dune, it also just feels so good to explore and learn more about a world that I’m quite fond of, and Funcom has clearly put a ton of effort into worldbuilding and lore, even despite taking quite a bit of creative liberty by placing Awakening within a parallel reality and canon than the books/movies.”

In a recent livestream, Funcom showcased the game’s mid-to-late game content, offering an in-depth tour of the Hagga Basin—a region teeming with diverse biomes. From the lush O’odham and the treacherous Hagga Rift to the towering spires of Jabal Eifrit, the stream revealed environments that were previously unseen, expanding on the 25% of the area accessible during beta testing. These visuals highlighted the game’s vast scale and environmental variety.

“Before even considering the vast dunes and dangers of the Deep Desert, players will experience a full-scale survival game,” Funcom emphasized. “They will rise through the ranks of the Atreides or Harkonnen; build powerful strongholds; brave Imperial Testing Stations; craft advanced schematics; explore and harvest using a range of vehicles; and much more.” The Landsraad system ensures that all players—whether they prefer PvE or PvP—can contribute meaningfully to their faction’s progress and influence the evolving world.
