Confirmed: Robert Pattinson Will Not Be the DCU Batman
James Gunn and Peter Safran have confirmed that The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new Batman to the DC Universe (DCU), explicitly excluding Robert Pattinson.
During a DC Studios presentation, Safran and Gunn clarified that Pattinson's Batman remains exclusive to Matt Reeves' "The Batman Epic Crime Saga." Gunn stated definitively, "It's certainly not the plan. No." Safran added, "We love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold."
Earlier speculation regarding Pattinson's potential DCU-wide role stemmed from Reeves' ambiguous comments earlier this year. Reeves emphasized his focus on his own saga, stating, "What the future brings? I can’t really tell you." However, he acknowledged a collaborative spirit with Gunn and Safran, highlighting their support for his creative vision.

Safran expressed enthusiasm for The Batman Part 2, stating that while a script hadn't been finalized, "what we've read so far is very encouraging." The Brave and the Bold is currently in active development, with Gunn and Safran heavily involved in scripting. The director, Andy Muschietti, will be considered once the script is finalized. Further announcements regarding The Brave and the Bold are promised shortly.
The Batman Part 2's delayed release date (October 1, 2027) raises questions about The Brave and the Bold's release window. Safran offered only a cryptic response: "I think we've announced October, 2027 there will be a Batman movie. That is all we can tell you right now.”
Interestingly, a brief Batman cameo in Creature Commandos Episode 6 showcased a familiar silhouette, hinting at the character's established presence within the DCU timeline, preceding the events of the upcoming Superman film. Gunn explained the deliberately generic depiction, stating he opted for a "more silhouette" approach. He further confirmed this is the DCU Batman and hinted at a future team-up with Superman, emphasizing his personal affection for the character and promising exciting future collaborations.
