Japanese Mahjong is an engaging game that follows traditional Japanese rules. To play, you'll use a slider on the screen to select and then tap to discard tiles. The objective is to complete your hand with four melds and one pair, such as [1, 2, 3][6, 6, 6][6, 7, 8][N, N, N][4, 4].

However, not all hands are valid if you use Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. Be cautious when forming sequences or sets with tiles numbered 1 and 9 through Chi or Pon, as these may result in an invalid hand. In Japanese Mahjong, you must have at least one valid hand. You can declare a Reach by paying 1,000 points, which helps you form a winning hand, but you can't declare Reach if you've used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan. A closed hand, one without using Chi, Pon, or Open Kan, typically scores higher.

Regarding the concept of a Lost Hand, this occurs when you are waiting for a winning tile but can't win off another player's discard because you've already discarded the winning tile yourself. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win by self-drawing the needed tile. The key strategy is to avoid letting opponents win with your discards; never allow them to achieve Ron with a tile you've discarded. To win, you need to strategically reason out other players' hands based on their discards.
